This chapter provides general information on your equipment, i.e. the EV3 brick itself as well as its accessories like motors and sensors. It contains explanations and code snippets on how to properly access and control these entities with Python.

Before you dive into the documentation any further, please read the following paragraphs on receiving and returning the boxes carefully.

Issue of the boxes

Depending on the course you are participating in, the basic equipment you received should contain:

Spring Course

  • LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set (45544)
  • Transformer 10V (45517)
  • Rechargeable DC Battery (45501)
  • Toshiba 8GB UHS-I microSDHC-Card (incl. microSD to SD adapter)
  • Logilink WL0084B Wi-Fi-Stick

Autumn Course

  • LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set (45544)
  • Transformer 10V (45517)
  • Rechargeable DC Battery (45501)
  • Toshiba 8GB UHS-I microSDHC-Card (incl. microSD to SD adapter)
  • Logilink WL0084B Wi-Fi-Stick
  • Some additional parts:
    • 5x toothed bar
    • 2x each 16/8/6/4 technic bricks

Return of the boxes

On return all boxes will be checked for completeness. This includes the microSD to SD adapter and the Wi-Fi-Stick. Also, please make sure that the parts are sorted as shown on the enclosed poster.

Do not remove or add parts to the boxes and treat them with care:

  • Move them only if it is necessary.
  • Move and store them horizontally.
  • Keep track of the parts.
  • Don’t share parts with other groups. Talk to us for additional parts.
